July 30th, 2011 - SUE has numerous events in August!
It is going to be way too busy this month, in a good way! I am taking down the Saratoga Visitors Center "True Grit" photo exhibit tomorrow, then putting a small portrait selection up at the Coffee Planet, in Ballston Spa, to hang all month! I will have the best of the Western Tombstone cowboy portraits up in exhibit, and maybe a new horse! I plan on being there Friday night, August 5th from 6-8 PM, if anybody wants to stop up, for a small reception. That night is part of First Fridays at Ballston Spa. The Ballston Spa Film Festival will also be happening all over town. Bring a chair, set it up, come see me at Coffee Planet, eat, go back, and enjoy the movie being played off the side of a building, or at the HS! All the art galleries etc in Ballston Spa are opened that night too for First Friday!
On Sunday, 7/31/11, the art group I belong to, Art-N - Soul, will be having an art show, "Artist Choice," and opening reception at the National Bottle Museum in Saratoga. 17 artists including yours truly, will have two selections each, on display. I am debuting a beautiful horse portrait called " Saratoga Sweetheart," taken in Saratoga. I will also have "Big Red" on exhibit. He is part of a pair of horses found near Ballston Lake. Big Red took Honorable Mention at the SSAS Spring Art Show. Artist reception for "Artist Choice" will be 2-4 PM, upstairs, in the Artist Space, at the Bottle Museum. A bite to eat, and something to quench your thirst, and lots of artist to talk to. Sounds like a good day to me! I told people to hit the Coffee Planet around 1 for lunch - see my portrait solo show there at the Planet, then go to the Bottle Museum to enjoy that reception. If you cant make the reception - the show will be up until September 11th. Check the Bottel Museum website for museum hours.
I will also be one of 7 invited artists to display artwork at "HALTERS OFF", Wednesday, August 3rd, from 6 - 8 PM, at the Dee Sarno Theatre, inside Saratoga Arts building. This is a Saratoga fundraiser for Peaceful Acres Inc Horse Rescue, in Esperence, NY. They do a lot of good things for hurt people and horses, so I will be donating 30% of any sale, to their cause. It cost $50 just to get in the door, and is worth every penny, to help the horses that need a peaceful home. It is Saratoga High Season, so come out and enjoy the Saratoga fundraising scene, and donate to a worthy cause.Painter Frankie Flores and photographer Sharon Castro will be there also, and the staff at Peaceful Acres. Can't wait!
It is also Altamont Fair season. August 16 -21. I hope to bring two new photos out, highlighting the old Pine Grove Dairy Farm. They were shot on a cold and sunny afternoon. Thought my fingers might fall off, but the camera kept shooting! The colors are beautiful. The adult and young person fine arts competiton can be viewed at the Fine Arts Barn at the fair, located close to the Karioke bar. Come vote on your favorite photo!
I think thats the list for August!
Hope to see you anywhere!
