Another magazine entry! Capital District Senior SpotLight

Editor Diane Biachi of Capital District Senior Spotlight chose Sues photography and article  to print in the  November 2013 magazine. Sue describes in detail the plane trip she took to Washington DC, and  how WWII veteran's loved their Leatherstocking Honor Flight trip to see their WWII Memorial in one day! One man left his nursing home to take the flight. Good for him. Another WWII veteran had to be lifted from the car he came in, into his wheel chair,and onto the plane,  but he was all smiles when he left Albany Airport, and when he came back. Bless the Leatherstocking Honor Flight staff, including President Greg Furlong,and  Rhonda and John Cooper. I also want to tip a hat to Patriot Guard Captain Bill Schaff, and all the Patriot Guard Motorcycle group that escorted these hero's to and from their local  gathering places, to the airport. I could see it starting to dawn on the veterans that this ride was going to be very special, when 75 motorcycles showed up to escort the VA bus, along with the police. The veterans were surprised and deeply grateful for your escort, and the respect you gave to them. When I find the darn article on line, I will post it!!!  

Here it is! Sue took the front cover of November 2013 Your Hometowne Magazine!!! It is a photo of the Iwo Jima Memorial in Washington DC. I escorted Dr. Tom Smith, Corporal Marine Raider, on the Leatherstocking Honor Flight, with other WWII veterans, to see their WWII Memorial, for the first time. We visited there, then the changing of the guard at The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery, and then on  to the Iwo Jima Memorial. Tom was the only Marine Veteran on the bus that had fought in that brutal offensive. He said 80% of his unit died in battle there. Tom was the only WWII veteran allowed off the bus to visit the Memorial. It was a very moving moment for him , and I believe deeply gratifying.  I had a chance to walk around the Memorial, and then saw my shot, in he late afternoon sun, when I placed the sun behind the flag, essentially lighting the flag up naturally.  I will be presenting a copy to Tom for Christmas. Sue takes FIRST PLACE in Metrolands Photoland Photo Contest!

March 2013 - Sue took FIRST PLACE in the Metrolands Photoland photo contest!!! The theme was "Young at Heart." The gentleman below  was part of cast in the independent film,  "Life on the Run," with Director / Producer Dr. Roger Wyatt.

For the automotive enthusiast, Saratoga Wine, Food & Fall Ferrari Festival is a once-in a lifetime festival weekend.  Every part of the weekend is paired with world-class wines, food and this year, men’s and women’s fashion and accessories courtesy of Saratoga Polo, The Saratoga Performing Arts Center and platform media. This festival is a fundraiser for The Saratoga Performing Arts Center’s Classical Season and its Classical Arts Education Program.   SPAC is the summer home of New York City Ballet and The Philadelphia Orchestra.

Friday, Sept 7 Road Rally & Men’s Luncheon

Friday, Sept 7 will be the opening day of this adventure for you and your automobile. The day begins in the morning on the grounds of the amphitheatre at Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Delicate pastries and Italian coffee will be served as we gather for a day just for the automobiles and their owners.

The Road Rally, A Once in A Lifetime Experience 10:00 AM

After the check in period, the road rally will take you and your vehicle through the country roads of beautiful Saratoga County, passing along the lovely Saratoga Lake as you make your way to the historic Saratoga Battle Field – where one of the most significant battles took place in American and world history – for an opportunity to see the grounds as well as have you and your automobile photographed by a well recognized photographer, Sue Clark.  Ms. Clark is renowned in many art galleries in the Northeast and Southwest for her unique ability to capture the character of an object. You will be leaving this weekend with a matted and framed photograph from this trip.

After our time at the Battlefield we will then be back to the country roads and off to a brand new automobile mini museum. This breathtaking collection not only will inspire the mind with each wall that is hand painted to a different theme but also the hospitality of the owner and his staff. You have an opportunity to take a tour and hear the unique story behind this location. While visiting Roli’s Muscle Cars, LLC, enjoy a classic, mid-morning Italian countryside respite.  An authentic and unique spread of Italian cheeses, local apples paired with Italian sparkling waters many other delicacies will await your palate. .

The rest of the enjoyable ride will be bringing you back onto the country roads for a wonderful ride back to Saratoga Springs where everyone will be meeting back at the grounds of Saratoga Polo.

The Gentleman’s Luncheon, Made-to-Measure 12:30 PM

The afternoon at Saratoga Polo is a perfect “gentlemen’s experience” with museum quality wines, an Italian sipping whisky tasting, cigar sampling by James & Sons Cigars, men’s pampering sessions by NYC-based, Trumans Gentleman’s Groomers, a gourmet Italian luncheon and an elegant men’s fashion presentation with world-renown men’s clothier, Martin Greenfield.

But ladies, don’t worry, this is NOT a men’s only event, there will be plenty of lovely and elegant things to do for you too, this is a not-to-miss event for everyone!

The afternoon will conclude at 3 pm giving you plenty of time to get ready for the Friday Live On Stage Gala at Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
